Hue and Cry’s new album Hot Wire – the first new album from brothers Pat and Greg Kane since 2008’s Open Soul – is out now. The band will be performing their much loved back catalogue as well as an introductory selection of songs from the new record. Hot Wire itself combines a love of Steely Dan and the solo work of Becker and Fagan with a sprawling template that includes songs reminiscent of Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone and early New Orleans’ inspired funk.

This year has so far brought some fantastic highlights including a session with the influential taste maker Jools Holland, for his BBC Radio 2 program who described the album ‘Hot Wire’ as “marvelous”. Further to this Pat and Greg took part in the BBC 6 Music 10th Anniversary Special with presenter Craig Charles and played alongside James Taylor and his Fantasy Funk Band. With radio sessions across the length and breath of the UK and national appearances on BBC Breakfast News television and ‘Live with Gabby’ on Channel 5, it has been a busy year. Speaking of the ‘Hot Wire in Scotland’ tour Pat and Greg discussed their love of playing to a home crowd.

‘‘We are delighted to be taking the ‘Hot Wire’ tour to Scotland in October, we will be on tour across parts of the UK in April and May but we have to say home is where the heart is, it will be great to be taking the ‘Hot Wire’ tour to our Scottish fans for the grand finale” says Pat.

Brother Greg adds “We really enjoy the full-on band gigs they give us the opportunity to play the songs in all their glory, playing them live just gives the tracks a new lease of life on the stage. We are looking forward to playing the new material from ‘Hot Wire’ and of course a few fan favorites”.

As Scottish as crude oil and football management excellence, Hue and Cry first leapt to prominence in 1987 when their single Labour Of Love (lifted from that year’s Seduced and Abandoned album) hit the No.6 slot. The immensely successful album Remote and further hit singles Violently and Looking For Linda followed before the Top Ten album Stars Crash Down and the release of Open Soul in 2008 further showcased the band’s classic pop-soul sound. The release of Hot Wire firmly cements their position as loveably intellectual hip funkateers.
